SInce starting Whole30 in September (I am on DAY 34, thank you very much!) I have been trying to create new recipes and concoctions in the kitchen. I had tried several marinades that I liked but wasn’t like “slap yo mama good!” until last night when I hit the nail on the head. It all came back to me in a flash of when I was younger and helping my dad in the kitchen making steaks for company. He always used ketchup and garlic salt and as an adult today I would be like “ketchup on steak? Really, dad?” Well, just goes to prove, father really does know best. So, let’s expound his idea.
Dad’s Steak Marinade
1/3 cup tessemaes ketchup
3 tablespoons white vinegar (any will work, really)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tabespoons onion powder
1/2 tablespoon garlic salt
Combine all of this in a large bowl with a lid or a gallon bag and let marinade for the entire day or five minutes, depends on how organized you are, let’s be honest.
You CAN NOT mess this up and can even not measure a thing and just “eyeball” it all and it will still be perfect, promise. I finished off my steak tips cooked in the cast iron skillet in ghee for 1 minute on each side and then removed them from the heat for ten minutes and served with cauliflower mash and green beans. Super simple dinner that everyone at your table will be sure to love. Promise.
(My cauliflower mash recipe is in my PDF. If you are interested click on the “buy” guide and it will take you where you want to be. Its a simple guide and collection of my recipes, tips on Whole30, what you can and can not eat, a list of weird words, and a complete grocery list! It’s sure to make your Whole30 much easier. And if you are not Whole30 but would like some of my recipes all in one place, just add cheese to everything and you are sooooo Keto.)
Tell me if you make this! Enjoy.
