You never want to serve pasta sauce that your family suspects is straight out of a jar, so here is my recipe for a homemade take on pasta sauce! When your family compliments your homemade creation (wink wink), you can say “why thank you” with a good conscience! I also love adding extra veggies where I can.
In this sauce, I added:
1 pound of ground beef, browned
5 ounces of fresh spinach
1/4 of an onion, diced
1/4 of a green pepper, diced
handfull of mushrooms, broken into smaller bits
32 ounce jar of Rao’s homemade marinara
salt, pepper, garlic to taste
Brown your meat over medium/high heat, adding your spices. As your meat begins to cook, chop your veggies. Once your meat is almost browned, add all your veggies and the sauce. Let simmer until you are ready to serve.
I love to serve mine with heart of palm linguine.
To prepare my linguine, I open the bag and rinse the linguine in the strainer with hot hot water for about five minutes. Then I pour my linguine in my “homemade” pasta sauce and serve.
Top yours with fresh mozerella or parmesean. It will be delicious!
